Mary Helen Follingstad holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Denver (1966) and a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Colorado (1973).
Mary Helen is a master of the watercolor medium. Current work is colorful and whimsical impressions and abstractions of New Mexico landscapes, architecture and old trucks. Her work is inspired by the surrealist Joan Miro, the complimentary color schemes of modern artist Emil Bonnard, who believed that objects and surroundings are not separate, and the abstractions of Wassily Kandinsky. Mary Helen’s paintings are like Haiku – simple but unique observations of spirit and being in the moment.
